I became President of our Riding Association recently because I don’t
believe Canadians are being well served by the current government. We’ve all
watched Mr. Harper’s actions regarding such things as the environment and
women’s issues; his ignoring of clear research results regarding such
things as drugs and crime; his ignoring of the members of Parliament in his
decisions to Prorogue the House; his recent lack of consultation on the
census long form; his move away from a balanced approach to the challenges
of the Middle East; and so on. He is gradually changing what has long been
the generous, thoughtful face of Canada to the world – at least on issues
such as abortion and the environment, the world is noticing.
Liberals offer Canadians a large-tent party, where there is much room for
disagreement. Whatever your position on the above and other issues, please
help us return to the fiscally thoughtful and socially progressive ways that
I believe are the instinctive political home of most Canadians. We have an
incumbent MP here who has done little but parrot the views of his leader, in
spite of the fact that his current party is a very long way from the Reform
group he joined.
